New Dimplex Baldwin Captures Prestigious Vesta Award for Innovation at the 2009 HPBA Expo

CAMBRIDGE, Ontario (April 14, 2009) – Dimplex North America Limited wowed the audience at this year’s Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Expo by introducing the world’s first cordless electric flame. The Baldwin, a stunning new wall-hanging unit, mounts on the wall as easily as a conventional mirror, while providing the ambiance of flickering flames for up to 12 hours on a single charge.

“Transitional styling allows the Baldwin to blend perfectly with any décor,” says Colin Stewart, Design Director for Dimplex. “Fluted rails, punctuated with corner roundels and finished in a rich espresso hue, form an elegant frame around the flame. The flames rise from a bed of lovely river stones along the base of the unit. Weighing only 45 pounds, the Baldwin can be easily moved from room to room and as it operates without heat, can be safely placed in almost any location.”

Behind the Baldwin’s beautiful exterior, state of the art technology delivers exceptional economy and convenience. Zero-maintenance LED bulbs never need replacing and use very little electricity. In fact, the Baldwin is so energy efficient that its annual operating cost comes in at less than five dollars, based on four hours of use each day, for 365 days. The low-voltage charger connects easily to the unit and a full charge indicator light lets the user know when its work is done. And to make sure you don’t miss a moment of pleasure, the unit is fully operational while charging.

Among those who were most impressed by the new Dimplex Baldwin were the judges for the prestigious Vesta Awards. “We established this competition nine years ago to challenge the hearth industry to develop new and innovative products,” says Vesta Award Coordinator Erica Paquette. “Our judges include retailers, distributors, product designers, consultants and other industry leaders. In selecting the winners, they look for innovation in design, construction, customer advantages and technology. This year, in the Electric Fireplaces, Stoves and Logs category, the Dimplex Baldwin fireplace led the industry.”
